Meiosis and its significance
Why this is asked: Only meiosis I actually reduces the chromosome number, by separating homologous pairs; meiosis II is mechanically just mitosis run on haploid cells, separating sister chromatids without reducing anything further. Treating both divisions as equally "reductional" is the recurring error.
