NEET trap families

Most wrong options aren’t random — they’re built to be tempting for a specific reason. This page groups real previous-year questions by why the wrong option looked right, not by which chapter it came from. Each family below shows a real wrong answer first, with the reasoning hidden behind a click, so you can judge whether you’d have picked it before you see why it’s wrong.

What this is, and isn’t

  • A sample, not a census. 49 questions are tagged here, out of roughly 1,150 in the bank. That’s enough to show the six families are real and recurring — not a claim that every wrong option on this site has been sorted into one.
  • Chosen by hand, from real papers. Every example is a previous-year question with a worked solution already checked against the official NTA key. Nothing here is invented to fit a family; families were kept only when several real questions actually fit them.
  • Six families, not a fixed list. A few plausible-sounding patterns didn’t survive checking against real questions and aren’t here. More may be added later, the same way: find the examples first.

Then go check yourself against the rest

Every question here links to its full previous-year page — all four options, the correct answer and the complete worked solution, free.
