Animal Kingdom

Class 11

24 previous-year questions from this chapter every option and the correct answer, free · where the marks are

1. Basis of classification

Exam focus: NEET tests the coelom hierarchy by its exceptions: acoelomates (Platyhelminthes) have no body cavity at all, pseudocoelomates (Aschelminthes) have one not lined by mesoderm, and among true coelomates, protostomes (mouth develops from the blastopore) are separated from deuterostomes (anus develops from the blastopore, mouth forms later) by that one embryonic detail alone.

Animal Kingdom — Full Chapter (Basis of Classification)

Vedantu NEET English

Full-chapter one-shot that opens with basis of classification before covering all phyla; use the early segment for this subtopic.

2. Non-chordates: Porifera to Echinodermata

Exam focus: The exception NEET checks most across these nine phyla is Echinodermata: its adults are radially symmetrical even though its larvae are bilaterally symmetrical, and it is the one phylum with no excretory system at all, relying instead on its unique water-vascular system for locomotion.

Animal Kingdom — Full Chapter (Porifera to Echinodermata)

Vedantu NEET English

Same full-chapter one-shot; its middle section walks through Porifera, Coelenterata, Ctenophora, Platyhelminthes, Aschelminthes, Annelida, Arthropoda, Mollusca and Echinodermata in order.

3. Chordates: Pisces to Mammalia

Exam focus: Chondrichthyes (sharks, rays) have neither an operculum nor an air bladder, unlike bony fish, so they must swim continuously to avoid sinking; higher up the tree, reptiles and birds have a single occipital condyle where mammals have two, a numeric detail NEET likes to hide inside an option.

Animal Kingdom — Full Chapter (Pisces to Mammalia)

Vedantu NEET English

Same full-chapter one-shot; its later sections cover Chordata, Vertebrata, Cyclostomata, Chondrichthyes/Osteichthyes, Amphibia, Reptilia, Aves and Mammalia.
